About this piece:    This is a handmade planter/flower pot that I created in clay.  Wheel thrown and carved.  It measures about 4-1/2" tall.  It's been Raku fired to 1890 degrees. It cracked from thermal shock when I took it out of the red hot kiln.  It's a nice piece, but not so nice as to fill the crack with gold as the Japanese have done on special pieces that have damage, called Wabi Sabi.  So I filled the crack with epoxy, then covered the crack with real gold leaf.  It weighs a little over a pound and a half.  There is no lead in the glazes but then Raku pots are not suitable  for food or beverages anyway.  I also make mid range fired functional smoking pipes, mugs, bowls, plates and other functional ware that is suitable for food and beverages.
