Antique Quality French Porcelain Hand Painted & Gilded Small Jug Flowers  Possibly Sevres circa 1810

Here we have a beautifully decorated small jug made of soft paste porcelain and probably by a French factory, possibly Sevres.

It is a very high quality item dating from around 1810 and featuring superb hand painted wild flowers and wheat.

The jug is unmarked, as is often the case with items from this period. The porcelain is very pure white and has an unglazed base rim.

It has a very attractive square sectional handle that has been gilded, as has the rim and the area just above the base.

The flowers that are so superbly depicted include poppies, cornflowers and harebells. There are also stems of wheat. The overall effect is delightful and the jug probably formed part of a tete a tete set. There is a little ridge below the neck rim, so it was probably made with a lid.

The jug stands 3 3/8ths inches or 8.5 cms high and weighs 109g unpacked.

Apart from the missing lid, it is in excellent condition and would make a great addition to any collection of antique French porcelain or small jugs or pitchers.
