Up for bid is a nice vintage Oxford clarinet with hard case.
The exterior of the case measures approximately 13 inches long by 7 inches tall
by 3 inches deep. I have not tested the clarinet because I don’t know how to
play it, so it is being sold as is for parts or repair. Assume that some repair
work will be needed before it will function. Overall the clarinet is in decent
to good condition. The exterior shows general moderate surface scratching,
scuffing and wear throughout. It is generally dirty throughout and could use a
good cleaning. The cork between where the pieces connect is very dirty and
shows flaking, and heavy wear throughout. It should be replaced. All of the
keys appear to move and function as they should, except for one that is missing
a spring. The plating on the keys shows moderate surface scratching, scuffing
and wear throughout. A good number of the pads look like they will need to be
replaced. The mouthpiece included with the clarinet is Selmer Goldentone. The
original cap and ligature are present as well. The interior of the case has a
strong musty smell and is overall quite dirty and dusty. It could use a good
cleaning. There are several large sections of what appears to be glue residue
on the underside of the lid on the interior. The exterior of the case is
overall in decent condition. It shows heavy to very heavy surface scratching,
scuffing, surface peeling and wear throughout, particularly along the sides,
corners, ends and edges. Both of the handles are present on the top of the
case. One of the latches on the top of the case will not close and will need to
be repaired or replaced. See pictures for a better idea of condition.
