This is a new/old stock original cocus wood Roy Seaman piccolo head with grenadilla wood cap and brand new case which was made by Northwind Cases for Mr. Seaman (with red lining).
There are no cracks in the wood and the cork is sealing well. The silver ring next to the cap is missing. It is purely aestethic and will not affect the way it plays.
Mr. Seaman sold the company to Gemeinhardt and this headjoint was made by him before that sale took place.
This is the first R. Seaman headjoint I've seen in rosewood (or cocus wood?)...most piccolos he made were all out of grenadilla wood. All Seaman headjoints feature sterling silver crowns.
The wooden shell of the new case is covered in thin genuine leather. Northwind Cases is the case manufacturer for all top Boston flute and piccolo makers.
