 You are looking at a nice Astatic 77L dynamic cardioid microphone from the 1950's. They don't come much nicer than this. This was a high quality Dynamic microphone offered by Astatic and was their answer to the competition being the Shure Brothers 55 S at the time. This unit has been tested and sadly the original element has a very weak signal so this should be used as a nice display piece. it does come with the Atlas stand shown.

 As you can see there are very few signs of wear. There is no pitting, heavy scratches, dents or engravings. The black silk screens are 100% complete in the front and rear. There are zero rips or holes in the screens either which is always a bonus. The joint mechanism tightens nicely and allows for a wide degree of tilt to the mics head.

 This Astatic 77L is a solid 9 out of a scale of 1 - 10 on the cosmetic side. The 77L has an elegant, timeless look that set these vintage mics apart from the others in the 1950's though several Japanese manufacturers made microphones that looked almost identical. The 77L needed an Astatic F-11 adapter to operate as where the regular 77 and 77A had a built in lower adapter with an on / off switch. This 77L has the F-11 but as you can see it's not actually wired.

 The adapter screws right on to the stand. The stand itself is a nice 1960's era Atlas DS-14 "Boomerang" microphone deks stand with cast iron base. This stand was very modern for its time and had that Star Trek vibe to it. As seen in the pictures provided the painted finish looks very nice with all original paint. 

 This desk stand has a wide stable platform that makes it ideal for those longer, heavier screw on mics of the day like the E.V 664, 644, 676, 647 and a whole other variety of Shure, Turner, Astatic and Japanese microphones. The dimensions of this stand are appx 7 inches deep X 6 inches wide X 4 inches tall. With the 77L on top it's appx 12 inches tall.

 The stand comes with newer felt pads as the original were all but shot. The 4 inch chrome stem / riser has almost no wear to it.
