Working Condition! I purchased C batteries to ensure that this item is working and indeed it is. I will repackage the C batteries and send them to you with your purchase. The push button on top of the engine turns the train on but does not turn the train off. You must unplug the Coal Car in order to turn off the train. Remote Control is untested.

This train set is not in perfect condition. However, considering age it is in EXCELLENT CONDITION! The Sears Express Engine's chrome details have worn off. The DieHard Coal Car is in excellent condition but the decal has peeled a little bit. Battery box is under the coal and accessible by push button. Takes 6 "C" batteries. Some minor battery corrosion but nothing that can't be cleaned. The Kenmore Box Car is in excellent condition and the doors slide open smoothly. The Kenmore side by side fridge Car is in excellent condition. The Craftman Remote Control is in excellent condition and takes 9v battery. No corrosion. The antenna's wrapping has worn off. 

Track is also in great condition!
