VICTORIAN SCRAPBOOK & EPHEMERA

This is an authentic late 1800's Victorian leather scrapbook with the ephemera found inside. The book cover is absolutely stunning...I almost didn't list it!... it's gilded and embossed red leather with a beautiful leaf and flowers design and a bow in the center. It's very aged and dingy...probably dirty...but I'm not really sure how to clean this gold embellishment so I'll leave that to you. The pages are really thick...more like the textured paper you would do crafts with or paint on and they appear to have been damp at one time on part of it.
There are only a couple of pages with anything on them so most of it is blank but I found some things in between different pages. It looks like she didn't get the chance to affix them but here's a list of what is here. The book measures approximately 12.5 x 10.25 x 0.75 inches and I have more pictures if you would like to see more of the inside blank pages. There's one tiny thing on the very last page right next to the spine as well.

One gorgeous Victorian lace very large greeting card....measuring 5.75 x 5.75 inches. The embossing and color underneath that lace is so beautiful.... I would take that lace piece off! It looks like she added some clippings on top of the lace...maybe she added that as well? There's no maker mark on the back of the card and it looks like it might have been burned accidentally on the edge so please see the pictures closely as this is part of the description.

There's a large embossed die cut
piece that's all still connected together and I've shown a close up of that so you can see it better...very pretty. There are some other embossed clippings including a little girl and three baskets... and a flat card of Forget-Me-Nots with a name on the back in pencil.
There is a pretty good amount of newspaper ephemera and it appears to be from the Marion County Democrat, August 6, 1897. It's mostly housekeeping and farming tips, recipes, illustrated ads, jokes, cartoons, and stories and news of the area.

*I've added an original printing of the first page of Vick's Illustrated Monthly Magazine from Rochester, New York, Volume 15, No. 2.
This page is from the December issue of 1891 and it has a beautiful sketch for "Christmas Tide."  The artist has the initials E M W but I'm not sure in what order. The other side has some illustrated ads...the largest being for Harper & Brothers magazines in Franklin Square, New York. Then we have some flowers, pianos, cocoa & tea ads. The page measures 12 x 8.5 inches and is in good condition...suitable for framing. You can see where the staples were on the left and there's a little bit of spotting so... Please see the pictures closely as this is part of the description... And feel free to contact me for any reason....

This book is a great find if you wanted to restore this and use it yourself...
