Hermes Cadre Noir Silk Scarf Rare Authentic.  Available for your consideration is a rare, chic and authentic Hermes Cadre Noir (“Black Frame”) Silk Scarf.  Designed by Colonel G. Margot for Hermes, the scarf was first issued in 1960.  The motif pays tribute to elite French equestrian instructors at the prestigious École Nationale d'Équitation (“National Riding School”), which was started in 1828 and remains in existence today. Cadre Noir takes its name from the black uniforms, which are still being used today. Hermes’ 1993 Spring/Summer Collection Catalog describes the Cadre Noir design as follows:  “A rider of the famous military school of Saumur demonstrates in 13 images that a horse can understand and do anything, as long as one knows how to ask it of him. A pirouette at a gallop, the croupade, courbette and passage: ultimate expressions of a true art form.”  According to Carrés d’Art, by Genevieve Fontan; Hermes’ Cadre Noir Silk Scarf is a 3D, which means “quite rare and quite sought after.”  Colorways include hues of gold, red, green, beige, blue, grey and black on a white background with golden yellow border. The Hermes Cadre Noir Silk Scarf offers a superb method to add definition to an outfit. It is chic, and the style of accessory that can define an ensemble. 

The silk twill scarf, with hand rolled edges, measures approximately 36" x 36".   It has been previously worn. There are runs beginning at the holes made by the needle used to hand-stitch the edges. Although the fabric has no discernible stains; there may be some faint marks that aren't easily seen since the scarf has been previously worn.
