Description of item for sale:

This beautiful tantalus is from France and dates to the Second French Empire period (1852-1870).  This one is unusually impressive with its intricate boulle and tortoiseshell case.  There is a complete set of 16 glasses, and 4 decanters that are in excellent condition free of chips and cracks.  The glasses and decanters appear to be original.  There is a key and the lock works as it should.  This tantalus is in very good antique condition with only minor lifting of the boulle and a few scratches from its 150 years of gentle use.  Dimensions when closed: 14" wide, 11" high and 10.5" deep.   (4480)
