Blind Dog Bumper Collar 9" neck, sky blue faux fur with hoop face guard. Brand new, home made.

Give your dog the gift of confidence, improve your dog's life with one simple click!

Disclaimer: The pictures of the dogs wearing the  collar is just to show you what a Bumper Collar looks like on a dog.

The collar for sale is 9” neck size,  sky blue fake fur.  The collar itself is  sturdy with two layers of strap and a layer of firm plastic in between. The strapping is 3/4" with a 3/4"  plastic squeeze buckle.    The hoop is attached securely  to the collar, and the whole thing is covered with  fake fur for comfort. This collar weighs 2 ounces. These collars are not adjustable. Measure around your dog's neck just like a regular collar.  The number you get is the size to purchase. Look at the metal yardstick to see  the length of the hoop.

This bumper collar gives your blind dog the confidence to move around freely, without the fear of hurting  their nose.  The soft, fake fur padding around the neck  eliminates any irritation, and makes it very comfortable for them. These are not toys and you shouldn’t leave your dog unattended.

In the sitting position, the hoop  goes up in the air, but when the dog is walking, the hoop goes straight out in front of their face.  The smooth tubing gently guides your dog around furniture, and the  wire inside the tubing allows you to adjust the hoop to the perfect level for your dog. A durable, plastic squeeze buckle makes this collar easy on / easy off!  Remember to put your fingers between the buckle and your dog so you don't pinch the skin or fur. These collars are designed to  be worn with the buckle underneath the neck.

When I adopted an older dog from a shelter, she already was blind with severe cataracts. She was very fearful and had very little desire to walk around the house or yard.  To improve her mobility, I designed this bumper collar for her. It changed her life almost immediately. Once she realized she had that buffer area in front of her, there was no stopping her! SHE WAS ON THE MOVE! When my vet saw her in action with the collar, she suggested to me that I should offer these on the internet – that they would be very helpful for other blind dogs.

Not only does this give you  freedom from guiding their every move, it’s great to see your dog's joy when they realize they're not limited anymore!   Please feel free to ask any questions. There are some  short  YouTube  videos  posted under the search title  Blind Dog Bumper Collar.  Look for my red dog wearing  her pink bumper collar, also a pug wearing a tan bumper collar.

If you have ANY questions, read FAQ’s  below or contact me BEFORE  you purchase. I can do custom orders, and I check my messages frequently.

MEASURING TIP:   Since every dog is different, you need to measure around the neck, to be sure. The measurement you get is the size collar to purchase.  If you don’t have a tape measure but DO have a ruler, cut a strip of paper about 3/4 inch wide, measure your dog's neck with the paper then measure the paper with the ruler. If you don’t have either, the cardboard in a standard toilet paper roll is 4" long. Take a piece of paper and cut it to the exact length of the cardboard. Fold it in half, then in quarters. Each section will equal   1 inch.  Use this to measure the paper strip that measured around the dog’s neck.

CUSTOMER REVIEWS:

Dorito  is not bumping his head hardly at all. He use to poke his eyes without the collar .....no more eye poking!!!!!!    He is getting used to the collar and it's working great!!!   No more vet calls!!!!!!   Dorito says thanks Tonya for helping me with my disability!!!!!!

Here is an update...... it took a few days for Dorito to get used to his collar. But now, about four months later, he is completely used to that little collar. We put it on and he walks around like a dog possessed!!!! Pin-balling off everything, But it's OK, because it's saving his little head!!!!   again, many thanks for coming up with an idea and product that will allow this little blind dog to walk around for the rest of his life.  Thanks!!!!!

The bumper came today and I put it right on my dog.   I think she will adjust quickly. I just want you to know that it's very well made and sturdy. I think this is going to be a godsend for my Sweetheart. I just want to make her last years peaceful. Thank you so much for caring. I'm going to show this to my vet. He probably has other dogs with similar problems.

My dog  is doing great with the collar on. She is starting to become more confident with walking around and the collar doesn't affect her at all. Thank you so much!

THANK YOU! for the fabulous collar. I think it's going to take some time for Andy to really get used to it but I see how the "bumper" will really help him. As time goes on, he'll get used to it and come to depend on it, I feel sure. What a great, quality product. Beautifully made, and so well made. And thank you for the fast shipping, and the bells! to pin on. I used them this evening when I walked Andy on the leash, and he totally got it. What a great idea and I never would have thought of that if you hadn't sent those bells! THANK YOU Tonya! I will send pictures this weekend. Kindest regards!

I mentioned this on my fb page that I belong to for blind dogs i think you will be getting a lot of orders in the near future... it’s very nicely made thank you..

Just wanted to tell you how thrilled we are with my Opie's bumper collar. I just put it on him and he seems to be ok with it. He has already "bounced" off a few things and seemed relieved.  This product will save him from injury. Thanks again for having a great, useful and well made product.

Thanks heaps for your concern and for taking the time to contact me regarding my purchase. I must say it denotes a high level of customer service.  Long story short, my little beagle buddy just went blind due to diabetes. The transformation was so rapid I rushed the order. He's banging around the house right now like the world's cutest little pinball.

This seller makes a great product!  Excellent communication and wonderful to work with.  Collar works better than expected and has really helped our pug who went blind very suddenly.  It was heartbreaking to see her bump into things despite being in her familiar surroundings.  The collar has given her more confidence and we don't have to worry about her hurting herself.  Thanks for making this product available. It is very well made, reasonably priced and invaluable in helping our dog be safe!

FREQUENTLY  ASKED  QUESTIONS:

Can I measure my dog’s collar to get the measurement?   No – their everyday collar, laid out flat, will be  different than actually measuring around their neck. It’s best to measure around your dog’s neck so the Bumper Collar will fit properly.

Why aren’t these collars adjustable?  These collars need to be centered.  Extra adjusting strap makes the collar unbalanced.

How are the collars sized?   Since each collar has different fur, some of the fur is short, some long, some is fur is thick, some is thinner – so even though collars may start out the same size, they are different when completed.  I make each collar, then  AFTER  it’s completed, I see what size neck it will fit comfortably.

Can I get a collar without any fake fur?   No, the fake fur provides padding so it’s comfortable for your dog, and it helps keep the collar balanced.

Will the collar twist around the neck?  When I first designed this Bumper Collar for my  dog years ago, I placed the hoop attachments right in the middle of each side.  Later, I found that by placing the hoop attachments closer to the buckle, all the weight is together at the bottom of the collar. The added weight at the bottom helps keep the collar balanced. If my dog’s collar gets twisted, I see him shake his body ( just like a dog would do after swimming to shake out the water) and the collar position fixes itself.

How tight should I measure?  Not too tight – not too loose. Slightly snug. Close-fitting. If you are uncertain – look closely at the measurement picture included with each listing.  I have a 45 pound red heeler who wears her collar loose enough to pull it off if she gets it stuck on something, and does well with it that way. I also have an 18 pound  blind Corgi, I measured his neck,  it was 12 3/4 .  I started him with a 12 1/2” collar, and he wore it higher on his neck, as he turned his head it moved with his head. At first, he walked with his nose to the ground and so I started with the buckle on top (so the hoop was higher.) About 3-4 days into it, he started prancing around with his head held up in the air - bouncing off everything, having a ball!  I tried a 13” collar. He wears this bigger one lower on his neck, and it seems more stable and the buckle is on the bottom now because he holds his head up and above the hoop.  Sometimes he wears the smaller one inside and the bigger one outside. In the summer he gets groomed, and his neck measurement is a little bit smaller but he still wears the same collars.  Long story short - these collars are very versatile and each dog is unique in the way they get use to them, but they seem to figure them out.

My dog's neck measured 13" and you only have 12 3/4" and 13 1/2" available. What size should I order?    It’s best to stay as close as you can to the exact measurement around the neck. When the measurement is in between like that - I would go to the slightly smaller size. These collars work best when they fit slightly snug. If you are unsure- you can contact me with some information about your dog (breed and weight) and I can try to help you figure out what size is best. This collar is NOT adjustable, and I want this to fit your dog properly. I’m here to answer ANY of your questions.

Can you tell me more about the pictures of the dogs wearing the Bumper Collar? Each dog pictured is wearing a Bumper Collar which is close in size to the collar listed for sale, but is not always the exact same size as the listing. Each dog is wearing a Bumper Collar with their exact neck measurement size, and the hoops are the standard size, unless noted.

What are the hoop dimensions of this collar?   When I make these collars, the hoop is formed to a “lightbulb” shape. This shape can be seen in the picture showing how to adjust the hoop with two hands. On the standard design, the total hoop size is approximately twice the neck size.

EXAMPLE: a 10” collar has a hoop that is 20” around the face. ( including the part that is imbedded on each side of the collar ) Be sure to double check the measurement on the  metal yardstick to see the length of the hoop - to see that it’s long enough to clear your dog’s nose.

What is the hoop strength?  As the size of the collar increases, the strength of the wire gets stronger. Very small collars have softer wire to keep them lightweight, mid-range collars have stronger wire, larger collars have heavy duty wire. If your dog is young or very energetic, despite being blind, your dog might do better with heavier wire inside the tubing.

If I buy two collars at the same time, can I get a discount on the shipping costs?  Usually I can fit them in the same box, and I WILL refund a portion of the shipping after the transaction is processed.

Can I exchange it if I order the wrong size?   I don’t do exchanges, but I will issue refunds for returned/ UNDAMAGED collars.  When you receive your collar, leave the protective cover on while you try it on your dog. I want this Bumper Collar to work for your dog and improve their quality of life, but if the collar “doesn’t fit”, or your dog “just doesn’t like it,” you can send it back for a refund. The shipping costs are NOT  refundable - the Post Office gets their money regardless.
