Lotus is the central motif of this plate's finely executed cloisonne decoration. The floral theme is drawn in an austere and symbolic manner, capitalizing mainly on the shape and dominance of the water plant's foliage, the flower is presented in its budding stage with the delicate image of a fluttering butterfly nearby. The background is black and the border is a subtle circle of butterflies. Condition wise, there are tiny particles of enamel that have been dislodged along the border but no significant pop outs from accidental  indentations. There is also a tiny spot at the back. This issue of specks of missing enamel is not unusual with old cloisonne pieces. Over all,  the plate is in good to very good condition. The cerulean blue enamel back is decorated with a waves diaper theme. Buyer is advised to examine photos closely. This piece is 12" in diameter. It is unmarked. It is probably from the 1880's.
