Rare Chinese Automaton 8 Day Quarter Strike 8 Bell Musical Gilt Bronze Bracket Clock

for your consideration is a large Chinese gilt bronze automaton bracket clock. The
gorgeous bronze case is decorated with beautiful casting floral relief around all 4 sides. The case is supported by 4 large bold floral feet which
make the appearance of this clock really impressive. A large window with red fabric can be found on each side that allows the music to be heard loudly and above a handle so this heavy clock can be moved around a little easier. The
Roman numeral dial is made of porcelain without any cracks or
hairlines. Engraved brass floral decorations surrounds the center dial. A series of large leafs conceals the automaton within. On its top, a brass pineapple with green metal leafs.
This clock strikes every 15 minutes, Petite Sonnerie striking. The
mechanism is 8 day movement, driven by double fusee chain. It's built
with heavy brass and with engraving on the back plate. Also you can
find a signature on it. The automaton feature plays hourly
upon the clock striking or it can also be manually started by pulling down the hanging string from underneath. As the automaton plays, the crest of this clock starts to rotate. The lower tier has a group of figures and animal carrying different treasures rotating as a carousel. At the same time, those large leafs starts to open up like umbrella to reveal the spinning glass tubes which imitating a water fall with a group of Chinese immortals rotating on the upper tier. At the end of the automaton, those leafs would drop down to conceal the immortals until the next play. Above the porcelain dial, another ground of spinning glass tubes create waterfall and rivers behind a painted forest scene with different birds and flower. A music tone also
plays on 8 bells while the clock strikes and the automaton playing. A large full glass panel on the back door offers a full clear view to the mechanism. This clock is sitting on a rotating pedestal that
gives you easy access to the movement. The entire clock case and mechanism are built with bronze, so it's quite heavy. It measures 96.5cm
tall, 33cm wide, and 22.8cm deep, or 38 inch tall, 13 inch wide, and 9 inch deep with pedestal. Its age is estimated to be the first half of 20th century, so please keep in mind that the case has large amount of wear and tear on its gilt and tarnish on the bronze case. And the mechanism has stains from previous lubrication and cleaning. This clock is currently in good working order and all
features are working properly. A video is available upon request. Due to the complication of the mechanism this clock has, some adjustments will be required after delivery. If you don't have a good amount of knowledge about clocks, a professional adjustment will be required. Again, a video is available showing all functions currently in working order. A wooden crate will be built professionally for safe shipping, so please allow a week or so for it to be completed. We will ship worldwide by UPS.
