The UK/EU regulations dictate that an e-bike must not exceed the rated power of 250W to be road-legal. Which is not great news for the thrill-seekers, power hungry among us who want to have the occasional fun off-road yet still be able to ride sensibly and legally on-road. A purchase of the common high powered electric bike will come with its legal implications. On the other hand, the practicality of a road-legal e-bike means giving up the fun one could have off-road. So which do you choose? As a combined effort with CycloTriciy (one of the UK's most prominent manufacturer of various electric bike systems) we have set out to resolve this dilemma for good! We have developed a unique system that allows the user to swap between two modes depending on whether you are on-road or off-road, allowing you to unlock the full power where it is safe and legal to do so. The bike will come preset to the road-legal mode of 250W by default. The dual-mode system is embedded in the LCD Computer which can unlock the full power of the system using a special code (this can be obtained upon signing the de-restriction terms of use). Please note that this is not the same as a de-restriction switch which has been questionable from a legal standpoint. The Elysium Relay 500W is made for you who primarily intend on using the bike on-road, but looking to add the extra power for some occasional off-road riding. Also comes with a high capacity 15Ah battery upgrade that can take you up to 45 miles on one single charge given optimum riding conditions. Exclusively distributed by Elysium Bikes, the Relay has been engineered with top in-house expertise in the UK. The motors are all individually hand-made and tested over and over again to ensure top performance and durability. Choosing our e-bikes means you will benefit from the following: - Powerful brushless motor technology:
The CycloTricity motor is a purpose built freewheel design, which means there is minimal resistance loading the motor as it spins forward.
- Advanced Lithium-ion Battery
Unlike the big and heavy batteries found on other e-bikes, all our batteries are based on new version of Samsung cell Lithium-Ion technology, much more reliable and offering incredible power to very low weight. Not to mention its stylish bottle-like looks. Each charge will last roughly 20-45 miles depending on which configuration you choose. - Stylish - it looks and feels like a normal bike
The e-bike looks and feels like a normal mountain bike, with the additional functionality that you have full control of how much effort you choose to exert. In addition, since this product is classified as a bike, you do not have to worry about all the red tape that comes with other motorised vehicles. No tax, license or insurance needed, and you can still use the usual cycling lanes! - Easy to maintain
Aapart from the electrical spares (which can be obtained from us or CycloTricity), all other parts are widely available at any local bike shop should there be a need for spare replacements. - Cheap to run
Travelling on battery power is a lot cheaper than fuel. To illustrate, given that you swap your car for our electric bike for your 6-10mile journey to work, we estimate that the e-bike will pay for itself within the first year in fuel savings alone! Not only that, once you factor in tax, mot, insurance, repairs, parking fees, congestion charges etc, your return on investment is suddenly within a few months!
Specifications: - 500W brushless gearless front hub motor (comes restricted to the UK/EU regulation of 250W power and 25km/h speed by default. Reaches up to 32km/h once de-restricted to the 500W mode).
- LCD computer showing power output, Speed, Time, journey Distance etc and ability to control the de-restriction settings.

- Battery Option 2: 36V/14Ah Lithium-ion battery upgrade (35-45 miles range between charges depending on terrain, weight of cyclists, frequent use of PAS, frequency of stops/starts, air pressure in tyres etc. Based on 250W restriction mode. Range could drop down to 25miles once de-restricted to full power)
