POLAROID SX70 LAND CAMERA 24CT GOLD PLATED

This is a very rare version of the Polaroid Sx70 Alpha 1.

The camera is a limited edition number 0178 of 1000. Polaroid produced these cameras in 1978 and they are numbered along side the signature of Mildred Scheel.

Mildred Scheel was the wife of the West German Bundespresident Walter Scheel. A great philanthropist and a friend of Andy Warhol, she used her husband’s influence with Polaroid to have 1,000 24k gold-plated cameras specially made to be auctioned for her charity, the German cancer fund "Deutsche Krebshilfe." The cameras have her engraved signature and were sequentially numbered on the side from 1 to 1,000. They were originally auctioned off on a TV special auction in 1978.

Cosmetically the camera has some minor marks to the gold - please see our images for the full condition. Overall it is in excellent condition.

All speeds, settings and features of the camera are in full working order.

The switches, dials and buttons are all perfect.

The film delivery and internals are in good order.

The viewfinder is clean and clear.

The folding mechanism works as it should with no issues.

The lens again is in perfect condition. It is fungus, dust, haze and damage free.

The camera takes SX70 film. Please note there is no film included.

The original tan leather case and neck strap are included which is also in excellent condition. This version of the case allows the camera to be used without the need to remove it from the case.
