This auction is for a frameset which includes the unique Flevo central pivoting frame with the newly redesigned, grooveless seat. The frame is manufactured in Germany from high quality WIG-welded steel, and finished in beautiful high gloss black or white powder coating. The frame incorporates an elastomer rear suspension unit, which provides superior cushioning in comparison to the cheap dampers often fitted to modern recumbents. The seat and the bottom bracket housing are adjustable allowing the set-up to be tailored precisely to the rider’s specifications. The seat is ergonomically designed to support the rider and prevent ‘slide-out’ when cornering at speed.

 

For practicality, the Flevo-Racer can be simply separated into two manageable halves that fit easily into most cars.

 

PLEASE NOTE; The images of a complete racer are for information purposes only. This sale is for a frameset that consists of the Flevo-Racer frame with the seat. The complete bike requires wheels, drivetrain, V-brakes, levers, cables and handlebars. Unlike most recumbents, the Flevo-Racer uses standard bike parts. This gives you the choice to complete with brand new parts or if necessary, transfer over from another bike (see specifications below).

 

About the Flevo-Racer

 

The Flevo-Racer is the brainchild of pioneering recumbent bike designer Johan Vrielink. He has been designing and building recumbents for over 20 years, culminating in what many regard to be the ultimate in modern recumbent bike design: The Flevo-Racer.

 

The main difference between Flevo bikes and more traditional recumbents is the incorporation of a central pivot, allowing the rider to steer using legs and hips rather than handlebars. Of course handlebars are still needed to mount the gear and brake levers, but when cruising you can safely cycle hands-free. Not only does this design make the whole frame far more ‘pleasing on the eye’ than traditional recumbents, but it provides the practical advantage of direct front-wheel drive. This means there is no need for energy-sapping pulleys or long heavy chains passing from front to back.

 

Of course this unique design requires some practice to master, but typically an experienced cyclist can become proficient on the Flevo-Racer after a few hours in the seat. Many users claim to have greater control over their Flevo-Racer than a normal bike, as leg and hip-controlled steering is very intuitive, a feeling many liken to skiing or skating.

 

The ride position of is very ergonomically favourable, making long-distance riding extremely comfortable. Also the low profile minimises drag, so maximizing speed. Cyclists who ride both recumbents and traditional ‘Diamond frame’ bikes typically report 3-8mph greater average speeds on their recumbent.

Delivery

We use DHL couriers with insurance to cover damage in transit. If you do not receive your delivery within 7 days, or the items are damaged/incomplete please contact us as soon as possible. Please detail any damage with the courier when you sign for delivery.

 

Returns

We accept returns within 14 days from postage date, as long as the frameset is returned undamaged. Any scratches or modifications invalidate this policy.
