Avcon Claw Type Adapter for public J1772 electric vehicle
charging stations to NEMA 14-50 generic connection.
These
Avcon “claw” adapters were used about 12 years ago in the first generation of
J1772. While these connectors are being
phased out most places there are still a lot of locations that provide
them. For someone who has access to one
of these older EVSE this adapter will let you grab a charge.
All parts are UL Listed. The
adapter is suitable for charging at up to 40 Amps, 240 volts on a 50 AMP
circuit. It can be used with lower current charging stations as well. It is
compatible with the older Black AVCON “claw” public J1772 equipment.
These
are some units sold a few years back by the EAA. They are new and never used. We have access to a small quantity of
them. The Avcon Inlets are no longer
available and these may be the last of their kind.
The
J1772 inlet connector used is a UL listed component. The adapter is enclosed metal box,
the NEMA 14-50 connector is a UL listed part, and internal power wires are UL
listed wires. The electronic circuit that will respond to the charging station
pilot signal causing the J1772 charging station to provide power to the vehicle
is included and programmed for charging a battery that does not require
ventilation. A handle is provided so the unit can be secured with a chain or
cable lock.
All profits will go toward improving public
EVSE in Florida.
