Leon Bakst Costume design for the Dance Narcisse (1911) Large Framed Print
1866-1924). Russian artist Leon Bakst revolutionized theatrical design in terms of both scenery and costume. Bakst achieved international fame with his sets and costumes, in which he combined bold designs and rich colors with minutely refined details to convey a picturesque, exotic atmosphere. Here is a fine example of his desirable work of a costume designed for the dance “Narcisse”. It is believed to be scanned from 1972 Dover republication of "The Decorative Art of Léon Bakst" But not a hundred percent sure; It’s a great possibility that it could be older than that. This Picture was purchased in a second hand store North of San Fransisco known for our small antique shops. The Glass is misssing and has several flaws, small scratches, none of them are extreme and someone had it framed by Arron Brothers; The mesurements with the frame are aproximately 31” D x 37” H and I would estemate the print around 20” D x 27”H. I took plenty of photos of the scratches; the color in the pics may vary due to outside lighting and some flash. If you have any questions feel free to drop me a line & I will get back to you asap.
