1980 Ferrari 400i

Chance of a lifetime to own what will likely be one of the finest Ferrari 400i’s in the world.

The original engine for this car was recently rebuilt by one of the top Ferrari specialists in the USA, Valtellina Automobili in Sausalito California. Over 40k was spent on the engine work alone (rebuild, installation, new parts etc). All receipts will be included with the sale.

These cars are becoming increasingly rare and valuable. There are very few in the world (if any) with rebuilt engines due to it being cost prohibitive.

This is an amazing opportunity for any 400i enthusiasts out there.

My intention was to complete this car to showroom condition, but unfortunately my personal circumstances have changed. The restoration specialist/mechanic who was working on the car for me is unable to complete it due to medical reasons, and I am in the process of moving to another state.

The car is not currently in running condition, although most of the major work has been completed. The engine has been re-installed after the rebuild, but still requires final connections and timing adjustments etc.

The interior seats have been restored/reconditioned to like new condition. New carpet is also included (high quality to OEM specs). The interior will need to be re-installed. All interior parts are present but not installed.  Please note: The pictures of the seats shown on this listing were prior to the reconditioning/restoration. The car is still in the shop and I am working on getting additional pictures.

There are too many new parts to name, but all receipts etc. will be included with the purchase.

In addition to the rebuilt engine, many other parts have either been rebuilt or replaced brand new with original Ferrari 400i factory OEM parts (including a brand new OEM radiator, bolts, hoses etc.), most of which were purchased from Maranello Ferrari Parts in the UK (best source for original factory OEM Ferrari parts). There are literally hundreds of new parts that were purchased for this car.

The car was painted 3 years ago. It has not been on the road since it was painted as the engine rebuild took nearly 2 years to complete. Given it has moved around a bit since the paint job, it could use some touch ups in a few places. The bumpers could also use some touch-ups and paint.

The only blip with the history of this car is that it was a recovered theft (no damage).

All parts for completion are included, expect for the exhaust. The manifolds are included and were recently powder coated, but the car will need a new exhaust.

This car has a California title, but is currently located in Reno, Nevada.

For those of you who know anything about these cars, you will know that the value of this car is worth the rebuilt engine alone (if you can even find someone who can/will rebuild the engine - and can do it properly in a reasonable amount of time). The engine rebuilder is a world renown specialist in classic Ferrari's, so you can be assured that the engine was rebuilt properly.

Original documentation is also included, including original owners manual and sale brochures. I also have an original parts manual (in the blue binder), as well several other shop/service manuals.

Shipping is the responsibility of the buyer, but I can assist where necessary. The car is being sold As Is so please ask all questions prior to purchasing.

Deposit of $1000 is due by Paypal within 48 hours of auction ending. Balance due within 7 days by cashiers check or wire transfer.

Please do not hesitate to contact me if you require any additional information. My asking price is much less than what I have already put into this car, but I am accepting offers.

Bid with confidence! I have sold several collector cars on eBay - all with 100% positive feedback.
