Offered in standard and sports versions, the Light Solo was one of the last new models introduced by Sunbeam before its sale to Associated Motor Cycles. The Light Solo model, first appeared in the 1937 catalogue. Before the year's end the company had been sold and production transferred to AMC's factory in Plumstead, South London where machines were assembled from Wolverhampton-made parts initially pending the introduction of new models. Very few of the much rarer Light Sport Solos had been produced by the time the model was discontinued in 1938.
The Light Sport Solo is, in fact, a sports version of the famous Model 9 with a high performance engine, high level exhaust pipe, 3.00 x 21 front tyre, rubber mounted handlebar and chromium tank with black panels and blue lining.
Around a dozen Light Sports Solos are known to exist today worldwide, out of a production total of only 50-60 machines.
This motorcycle is nimble, quick and in great running condition with a 4-speed Burman gearbox.
Extremely rare motorcycle and the only one of its kind in the U.S.
