(1) Very Rare
Vintage 1930's 'LYNMARK Digital' Read Watch

  Backgrounder:

These early ‘Digitals’ are VERY undervalued in the vintage watch market due to a couple of reasons. First, these pieces, like many vintage pieces tend to require a bit more attention to care then the average ‘mindless’ piece of garbage quartz watch. Second, many have either suffered from abuse cosmetically or mechanically due to either poor care or shoddy repair attempts by less then competent watchmakers. This particular watch is from my personal collection of early 'Digital/Direct Read/Jump Hour’ watches that I have amassed for the purpose of preservation and restoration over the last several years. I truly have a soft spot in my heart for these often forgotten timepieces and can honestly say that even by today’s standards, wearing an early Art Deco Jump Hour draws great conversation from both collectors and John Q. Public like no other modern or vintage piece that I have ever worn!! That said, I have made every effort to preserve and not totally restore the cosmetics of these particular pieces. I leave that up to the new owner. I highly recommend artisanplating.com for spectacular and flawless watchcase replating. Many of the pieces still retain their 70yr old original Art Deco bracelets, which are in many cases, still in excellent original condition! Additionally, some will be affixed to either NOS or original Don Juan (donjuanbands.com) or other Art Deco period style stainless steel watchbands to enhance their appearance and maintain that original Art Deco look and feel.

The lucky new owner of one of this spectacular watch is sure to draw loads of attention and experience the same exclusivity and conversation at the next dinner party of office boardroom meeting!! Sure you could sport that new high end watch but why not wear a truly EXCLUSIVE and RARE piece such as one of these totally cool Digitals, it’s just more fun!

Condition of watch is as follows:

Case: EXTREMELY RARE and early 1930's 'LynMark' digital watch. Handsome and original, Nickel Chome (as marked in inside case back) plate over base metal stepped tonneau art deco case. Great patina over entire watch with no pitting at case back with some wear but still retaining much of the original finish. Case size is approximately 34mm wide to crown and 36mm in length. Original  and handsome crown.

Crystal: Often the part on most early digitals to have yellowed or be missing entirely, I had a new Plexi style disc installed that has no clouding, blemishes, scratches or dust of any kind.

Dial & Hands: Original hour, minutes and seconds dials are in very good original condition with some discoloration and light fading but still very legible.

Movement: Original, rare and spotless 'LynMark' Swiss 17 Jewel & 3Udj. movement working very well. Movement has been serviced by my watchmaker, a Certified Technician who specializes in vintage watches. That said, I can't monitor the care the piece receives in shipping and I always encourage the new owner to have additional fine tuning performed by a competent watchmaker upon delivery. Further a vintage watch will not have the same accuracy as a modern quartz watch. However, rest assured that all mechanical aspects and the movement have been thoroughly disassembled, cleaned, overhauled, detailed and finally vibrograph tested for the best possible accuracy. In addition, all repairs if any, utilize correct NOS and original parts that are correct to the movement and no corners are ever cut!!

Band: A rare jewel itself, This particular  40's era band is extremely unique and quite rare given it's age and condition. Manufactured by the Pacific Watch Attachments Co., this band is in as new condition or NOS. Rugged doublestitched Western style with calfskin backing, leather construction with finished and waxed edges. To compliment is solid 'Sterling Silver'& 10k Rose Gold buckle, clasp and endpiece that is handsomly hand tooled. Band is in excellent condition showing little to no signs of shelf and display wear and could be used in it's current condition. Leather is very supple and should only improve with wear as oils from the new owners skin should help to condition the leather and stitching. Length of band is roughly 6 1/2" down to 5 7/8" and should easily fit a small to medium wrist.

*This watch would make a great addition to anyone's collection or for daily use providing you with a unique and reliable timepiece for many years to come. Sure you could spend a fortune on one of those overpriced quartz pieces of garbage on the market but, why not be different and sport a cool vintage wristwatch! It's just more fun!!

*While I personally own many high end watches, etc, it always catches me by surprise that the times I recieve the most compliments on my watch, is usually when I am wearing a piece such as this fine Digital up for auction. Perhaps because people simply are not use to seeing this styling?
