Small fissure to upper front hinge.Slight waterstaining of the first 100 lvs. FIRST COLLECTED EDITION, with a copper engraved portrait of Mendelssohn by Graaf, and a biography. An important publication. Contains all his philosophical works, including his translations, among others of the PSALMS and the avaible correspondence. His correspondence is important, he had contact with Kant, Lessing and other leading thinkers of his time. He advocated Judaism against its opponents, and initiated the FIRST translation of the Bible by Jewish scholars. It contains the list of subscribers, which is an important document, showing the dispersion and reception of the ideas of the Haskala, among them Nachmann Krochmal (Brody), the Hegelian, who wrote in Hebrew.
The book in very good condition, slight damage to the cover but nothing seriously, interior pages have some rust stains - more in the first pages, also something not to much.
