The Extra Life Battery Pulse unit is a small electronic unit that connects directly onto your battery and continually fires a pulse of energy to regenerate the battery. This breaks down the sulphates that have become attached to the plates and also prevents further sulphates forming, restricting further contamination.

Why do batteries stop performing?

90% of batteries do not die of old age but are literally “choked” to death by a substance known as Lead Sulphate which occurs in all Lead Acid batteries. It attaches itself to the plates within your battery and prevents a charge from being accepted thus reducing your battery’s capacity.

What is Lead Sulphate & what can we do about it?

Lead Sulphate is created when a battery is discharged. The lead from the plates combines with the electrolyte (dilute sulphuric acid) to make lead sulphate. When the battery is recharged this process is reversed however, some of the lead sulphate will crystallise on the lead plates, this acts as an insulator and reduces the plate area in contact with electrolyte thus reducing the usable area of your battery.

The Extra Life Battery Pulse unit uses power from the battery and returns it to the battery in the form of pulses; little or no energy is lost. Attach the unit to your battery, at any time in its life, but the sooner you do it, the better it is for your battery.

The unit measures 50mm x 30mm x 14mm thick and weighs only 66g. It comes with a self-adhesive pad to secure it. The wires are 175mm long and have 6mm ring terminals. The unit is 100% waterproof.

The unit is suitable for ALL types of 12v lead/acid batteries up to 180Ah.
