	In this lithograph, Stan Stokes depicts the landing of a F4U Corsair on the aircraft carrier USS Intrepid. The Corsair was a fighter plane frequently used by the Marines in the Pacific Theater of World War II. The Intrepid was launched in 1943, and also participated in many battles in the Pacific, including the invasion of the Marshall Islands and in the various fights surrounding the Philippines. It continued to be active until after the Vietnam War.
