The Hawaiian "Makau" Fish Hook

The Makau is a fish hook shaped tool created by ancient Hawaiian to hunt for food. The fish hooks were carved out of bone, wood, stone and other materials. Over time the fish hook became a symbol of strength, prosperity, abundance, fertility, and respect for the sea.  The fish hook is often worn by travelers for good luck and safe passage. 

The Maori "Hei Matau" Fish Hook

The origins of the fish hook is found in Maori Legend.  Legend tells that the North Island of New Zealand was once a huge fish that was caught by a great mariner named Maui using only a woven line and a hook made from the jawbone of his grandmother. The Maori name for the North Island, Te Ika a Maui ("The Fish of Maui") reflects this legend.

Shipping:

All orders are shipped within 1 day after Buyer has processed and cleared payment. All shipments are shipped via United States Postal Service (USPS).  All domestic orders are shipped via USPS First Class.  USPS First Class generally take between 2-6 days from the time of shipment for delivery depending on delivery location.  All international orders are shipped via USPS First Class International.  International First Class generally takes 2-6 weeks from the time of shipment for delivery depending on delivery location.

Returns:

If Buyer is not satisfied with an order for any reason, Buyer may return the item(s) within 30 days of USPS confirmed delivery. Buyer is responsible for the cost of return shipping.  If Buyer receives incorrect, defective, or damaged merchandise, Orange Merchandising will be responsible to either replace the item(s) or issue Buyer a full refund of the purchase price plus any shipping charges paid by Buyer.  Refunds are processed within 3 business days from the time Seller receives the returned item(s).

Exchanges:

If Buyer would like to exchange an item, Buyer will be responsible for the cost of return shipping and will have to reimburse Seller for any re-shipping fees (fees for shipping the item for the 2nd time).
