This is a whetstone of amakusa in Japan. Amakusa is in Kyusyu (south Japan)
This grain is medium ( I think about #800~#1200)

I think amakusa binsuito whetstone is quality No1 in Japan about medium grain!

The Japanese used these sharpening stones for sharpening swords and knives
for many hundreds of years.
