*** What is it? ***

SD2IEC with latest firmware, 1284P microproccessor and built in disk swap and reset buttons.

The SD2IEC is an SD CARD reader for commodore computers that emulates floppy disk drives like the 1541 and 1541-II. You can use this device to load games on a commodore computer without the need for a disk drive or cassette player. Unlike the latter, the SD card reader is far more reliable, and never again will your favourite game on disk or cassette stop working. Whats more, you can use an SD card (not included) up to 2GB in size allowing thousands of games to fit on one card.

The SD2IEC has the latest firmware which supports JiffyDos, Geos, Final Cartridge III, Exos, TurboDisk, Epyx FastLoad, Speeddisk and Dreamload Fastloaders. It will run D64, D71, D81, M2I or PRG files sraight from the SDCARD or you can use programs like CBM FileBrowser to easily select games from a list using your joystick. I will include a cd rom with each purchase that contains everything you need, the manual, file browser, backup of latest firmware etc. The manual will explain exactly what you need to do with these files. The SD2IEC you receive will be fully assembled and tested, you can be playing old games in minutes of receiving. Our SD2IEC are now fitted with the 1284P ATMEGA which has spare capacity for newer versions of firmware as they become available. The ATMEGA has the bootloader installed to allow firmware updates to be carried out by simply copying the new versions on to an SDCARD and the unit will automatically update. Note, the current latest release is shipped and a backup located on the resource cd so it is easy to restore the unit to its current state as shipped. The drive is preset to drive number 8 but this can be changed via BASIC.

*** Incredibly easy to use ***

Included in the sale is my "beginner's guide" which takes you through the steps as easily as possible, from how to load games on to the SD card from your PC, to how to load a game on the commodore. The commands are exactly the same as with a real 1541, but the guide explains them step by step in case you haven't used a commodore for some time and forgot how to use it. There is absolutely nothing you will have to figure out yourself to get this working on your commodore computer!

*** What's in the box? ***

A Brand New Fully assembled and tested SD2IEC board with a serial connector (for data), a choice of power connector, a ribbon cable and a beginner's guide which tells you everything you need to load a game and not much else! You have the choice of power connector, one which attaches to the cassette port (found on all commodores except the plus-4 and SX-64) or one for the user port (on all commodores including the plus-4 and SX-64). Note both power connectors are designed to allow you to still use the port so that you can connect another device on the back of the power connector (so you don't block that port off by using your SD2IEC). If you have any commodore other than the plus-4 or SX-64 you can choose the cassette connector, but if you own (or are likely to own in the future) a plus-4 or SX-64, you should choose the user port connector.

The ribbon cable length was chosen carefully to work with any power connector on any commodore and still give you approximately 50 cm between the serial port and the SD2IEC so that even with the larger machines such as the C128D, the SD2IEC can still be placed at the front (without being overly long!). If you require a longer (or shorter) cable, just let me know and its no problem to make one that's perfect for you.

Note, you will need to purchase an SD card separately (not micro SD, no larger than 2GB) ~£3-4 on ebay!
