| Function | Ferrous Sulphate tablets belong to a group of medicines called iron supplements. These medicines work by replacing body iron. Iron is a mineral that the body needs to produce red blood cells. When the body does not get enough iron, it cannot produce the number of normal red blood cells needed to keep you in good health. Ferrous Sulphate tablets are used for the prevention and treatment of iron-deficiency anaemia. | | Directions | Adults over 18 and the elderly Treatment: 2-3 tablets a day in divided doses. Prevention: 1 tablet a day. Do not exceed the recommended intake. Not recommended for children. How to take these tablets Ferrous Sulphate tablets should not be taken within one hour before or two hours after eating or drinking the following products: tea, coffee, milk, eggs and whole grains. These products can reduce the absorption of iron. Meat and products containing vitamin C can increase the absorption of iron. Follow the advice of your dietician or doctor when taking Ferrous Sulphate tablets with any of the food or drink listed. Swallow the tablets whole with water. Although iron preparations are best absorbed on an empty stomach, they may be taken after food to reduce gastrointestinal side effects. Taking other medicines Please tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking or have recently taken any other medicines, including medicines obtained without a prescription. Especially: - tetracyclines (to treat infections)
- ciprofloxacin, norfloxacin, ofloxacin (to treat infections)
- colestyramine
- antacids (containing magnesium or aluminium)
- medicines containing zinc, calcium, phosphorus or trientine
- methyldopa (to treat high blood pressure)
- penicillamine (for rheumatoid arthritis)
- levodopa (for Parkinson’s disease)
- ascorbic acid (vitamin C)

Food supplements are not to be used as a substitute for a varied and balanced diet and a healthy lifestyle.
Always consult your doctor or a healthcare professional before using Iron supplements if you are:
- Pregnant - Breastfeeding - Taking any medications or - Under medical supervision - are allergic (hypersensitive) to dried ferrous sulphate or any of the other ingredients in Ferrous Sulphate tablets
- are receiving repeated blood transfusions
- are receiving iron intravenously
- have a disorder in which there is excessive absorption and storage of iron such as haemochromatosis.
Discontinue use and consult a doctor if adverse reactions occur.
Check with your doctor or pharmacist before taking Ferrous Sulphate tablets if you have:
- haemolytic anaemia
- a blood disease (haemoglobinopathy)
- an iron storage or absorption disease
- gastrointestinal disease
WARNING: Keep out of reach of children.
Store in a cool, dry place.
Do not use if the blister pack is torn or damaged in any way.
Do not use Ferrous Sulphate tablets after the expiry date stated on the label/carton/bottle. The expiry date refers to the last day of that month. Medicines should not be disposed of via wastewater or household waste. Ask your pharmacist how to dispose of medicines no longer required. These measures will help to protect the environment. Side Effects Like all medicines, Ferrous Sulphate tablets can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them. Contact your doctor at once if you have an allergic reaction e.g. itchy skin rash, swelling of the face, lips, tongue or throat, or difficulty breathing or swallowing. Tell your doctor if you notice any of the following side effects: - constipation occasionally causing faecal impaction, diarrhoea, stomach pain, feeling sick and blackened stools.
Please tell your doctor or pharmacist if you notice any of the above effects, they get worse or if you notice any not listed. If you forget to take the tablets Do not take a double dose to make up for a forgotten dose. If you forget to take a dose take it as soon as you remember it and then take the next dose at the right time. If you take more than you shouldIf you (or someone else) swallow a lot of tablets at the same time, or you think a child may have swallowed any contact your nearest hospital casualty department or tell your doctor immediately. Symptoms of an overdose include: - Up to 24 hours: stomach and intestinal poisoning including being sick and diarrhoea, heart disorders such as low blood pressure (hypotension) and a racing heart (tachycardia), metabolic changes such as too much acid in the body (acidosis) and high blood sugar (hyperglycaemia), nervous system depression ranging from tiredness to coma, temporary relief of symptoms may occur.
- After 24 hours: stomach and intestinal poisoning and obstruction, shock, too much acid in the body (acidosis), fits, coma, liver failure, jaundice (yellowing of the skin or whites of the eyes), low blood sugar, problems with blood clotting, low production of urine, kidney failure, fluid in the lungs.

We only ship within the U.K. and offer free postage and packing so that you can get what you need at the lowest possible price. All orders are sent by second class post within 24 hours of receiving your order. This is a non-guaranteed service and may take between 3 to 5 days, although the Royal Mail state they aim to deliver second class mail within 3 days.
Please note that if an order is returned to us due to customer error then a re-shipping fee is applicable due to the cost of re-packing, and re-shipping the returned item. Alternatively, If requested a refund of the item will be made, however the shipping cost will have to be taken out of this due to it being a cost incurred by SuperVitaNatural Ltd shipping the item out in the first place. |

In the event your goods arrive in an unsatisfactory condition, please contact us via email at supervitanatural@me.com. You will be provided with a Returns Authorisation Number (RAN). You will then be required to return the unopened goods (intact with the seal) to the following address and we will process a full refund for the returned part;

Damaged or Faulty Goods
In the event you receive faulty goods, please contact us via email at supervitanatural@me.com with details of the fault. You will be provided with a Faulty Goods Returns Authorisation Number (FGRAN) and requested to return of the faulty goods with the delivery note / invoice by recorded delivery to the above address. When we receive the goods the product/s will be inspected. If the fault is agreed, a full refund will be given for the returned goods and postage paid, including a refund for any additional return postage costs.
We are only able to offer a refund for both damaged or faulty goods if they are returned within 30 days after the delivery to the above address. SuperVitaNatural is not liable for any damages if you fail to do this.
Lost Goods
On the rare occasion goods may go missing within the Royal Mail. Please contact our Customer Service Department at the above address through the eBay messaging system. Royal Mail does not consider an item lost until after 15 days from date of posting. If the item is not received, you will be required to provide a declaration stating the non-delivery of the item after 15 days to SuperVItaNatural Ltd before a replacement is posted.
Please Note: Lost parcels must be reported within 30 days of despatch, we will not be liable for any loss should you fail to do this. |
