Instructions how to dismantle turbocharger and fix it using repair kit:

1. Take the turbo out of the car. Spray all the bolts with WD-40 loosening spray.
2. Remove vacuum actuator which is conected to turbine housing with two 10mm bolts. Mark its place.
( The turbocharger consists of turbine housing, compressor housing and cartridge. Any of these 3 parts can be rotated around the rest once the bolts are loose. )
It is important to mark them with a punch before unscrewing bolts, so that when you put your turbo back together you can align it the way it was.
3. Separate the cartridge from the turbine housing (you might have to put it in a wise and use a hammer to carefully separate them - you don't want to damage

the shaft or the turbine it self).
4. Loosen/remove the bolts of the compressor housing and remove it. (Use 8mm wrench)
5. Remove the shaft nut of the compressor with 8mm wrench, holding turbine end with 10mm wrench key attached to a vice.
IMPORTANT!! Unscrew the bolt clockwise in all Garrett turbochargers.
6. Take the compressor wheel out. Use a hammer to drive the shaft out of it (be careful as to not let the turbine hit the ground once the wheel is out of the shaft).
7. Remove the 4 bolts from seal plate which hold it to bearing housing.
8. First thing you will see is thrust bearing (gold metal plate) with thrust collar in the middle.
9. Using screwdriver take out c-clips which hold journal bearing from both sides.
10. Remove the seal on the turbine shaft & wheel and raplace it with new unit.
11. Put compressor seal on thrust collar.
12. After fully dismantling turbocharger cartridge chra, clean it with petrol and use compressed air to dry it out.
13. Insert c-clip in the bottom of bearing housing, then put journal bearing and fixate it with anti-rotation pin.
14. Put some oil inside and give a few spins.
15. Put new rubber o ring into a place, but don‘t use any hermetics.
16. Connect seal plate with thurst collar and cover bearing housing. Use new bolts and loctite.
17. Insert shaft and wheel, you should hear a click when seal ring is in the place.
18. Put on the compressor wheel and screw it with new shaft nut. Use loctite for stronger hold.
19. Use new rubber o-ring and new bolts to put cartridge back to turbocharger.

You just rebuild a turbocharger cartridge, the only thing left is to mount the actuator and you have a working turbo again!
Before installing turbocharger put some oil inside of it, and spin it with hand, so turbo parts are lubricated and ready to work.
