Description
A very vibrant massello sculpture of perfectly plump penguin with blue over red sommerso (submerged colours) decoration. It was designed by Murano glass artist, Livio Seguso, for Germany glassworks, Gral Glas, in 1978.
Massello glass, or 'full' glass, is made without being blown, but is instead formed entirely by physical manipulation whilst hot. The resulting sculptures will tend to be very heavy, as this penguin is.

This means that although we present mostly 20th and 21st Century European objects of vertu we never know exactly what we'll next discover on our travels.

Selecting items individually also means that there will always be a consistent level of taste, quality and coherence that runs throughout our collections. We would never present anything that we would not absolutely love to own ourselves.
