The body of the hat is fashioned from beautifully tight weaved black and white straw, embellished with rhinestones and a bow.  

The famous RED FEATHER behind the label and GOLD LAME' LACE are on the interior of this hat. (FYI, Vintage Jack McConnell hats with a single red feather attached to the obverse corner of the tag indicating that the hat is an original one-of-a-kind Jack McConnell creation, and are highly collectible).

The hat itself has been well kept and shows minimal wear. I believe that there are no missing pieces on the hat but there are 2 tiny areas where the glue has loosened for the rhinestone chain.
