You are looking at a hand painted vintage faience Henriot Quimper mustard pot from about the mid-1960s to 1970's. It is a ceramic pot with handle and lid with an opening for a spoon. There is a wood spoon with a blue knob included. The basis of the pot is white and the flower/leave design on it is in the colors blue, green and red. The handle has blue stripes and the lid has a blue knob. On one side is written Dijon. On the bottom is written 1777, Grey-Poupon (which is a mustard brand), Made in France, KY.

The Quimper potteries often took on special commissions for commercial enterprises. Hence the signature Grey-Poupon Made in France KY on the bottom but no mention of Quimper. I have asked an expert on Quimper and showed these pictures of this mustard pot and she confirmed this is definitely Quimper. You will find other similar pots in the same style who do have the signature Quimper on the bottom. Please see the last picture (borrowed from someone else) which shows both the KY letters and Quimper.

It is in excellent condition. No cracks, no chips. The blue paint on the spoon knob is a bit faded. It is hand painted, one line around the opening of pot is wobbly done.

Size: Approx. 3 1/2 inches tall including lid, 2 1/8 inches tall without lid, 3 1/2 inches wide including handle, opening: 2 inches wide in diameter. Spoon 4 1/2 inches long.

Comes from smoke free home.
