1. 1W NICELITE LED EXCEEDS 6W HALOGEN: With a Nicelite bulb, lights can be far brighter than before. From tests and customer reviews, illumination by a 1W Nicelite bulb (110-120 lumens) is superior to a 6W halogen bulb (100 lumens), which would be far too hot for many lights. Nicelite 2W Bulbs for Maglite® surpass 10W Halogen bulbs. The increase in visibility is from a combination of (a) much higher lumens, (b) pure white light, (c) a smoother beam. The side-by-side image of two Mini-Maglite® beams (bottom left) gives an indication of the improvement that can be obtained.

2. CONSTANT BRIGHTNESS: All Nicelite bulbs work within a voltage range, and employ power compensation circuitry to maintain the LED at full brightness down to a low voltage, utilizing the maximum battery capacity. They operate at a much lower power level than filament bulbs of the same brightness for extended battery life, minimising cost, waste, and operating temperature. Rechargeable batteries can be used for even greater savings.

3. PURE WHITE: The colour temperature of all white Nicelite bulbs is pure neutral white 4000 - 5000K, for improved visibility
over the yellow tint of filament bulbs, even halogen. Colour is indicated in the product table, below.

4. NO POLARITY: Nicelite bulbs, indicated by "NO POLARITY" in the table, never require reversal of the battery direction. This
is important as it can be impossible to reverse the cells, including cordless lights.
Maglite®-specific NL152 and NL252 bulbs have reverse polarity protection, which is appropriate for their use in a Maglite®.

IF BUYING MORE THAN ONE BULB CODE, IF POSSIBLE PLEASE ADD THEM TO YOUR BASKET AND CHECK THEM ALL OUT TOGETHER.
There is only one postage cost per order. Any excess postage will be refunded on the day of dispatch.

NOTES:

These bulbs are not designed for bicycle dynamos and hub generators. There are additional Nicelite bulbs specifically for generator applications. Please see section E, below.

Do not look directly at the LED or shine into eyes when illuminated. Always remove or disconnect the power supply before changing a bulb.

A. BASES

CNC:  'DROP-IN' 11.5mm DIAMETER BASE, SPECIALLY DESIGNED FOR MAGLITES®.
Maglite® have over-sized metal bulb holders with a greater heat sink allowing higher LED power and lumens.

PUSH-IN:  STANDARD 'PR' / 'KPR' / 'HS3' - P13.5s INTERNATIONAL 9.2 mm BASE WITH "V" NOTCH FLANGE. This fitting is the usual type found in flashlights and cycle lights.

SCREW-CAP :  STANDARD E10 / MES INTERNATIONAL BASE, 9.5mm DIAMETER.  This fitting is found in some modern head torches, flashlights, lanterns, and cycle lights, and more often in vintage equipment.

Nicelite bulbs fit in place of original filament bulbs as they require less space than the glass envelope of conventional bulbs.

B
ulb codes are laser etched on the bases for identification at any time in the future.

B. BEAM (as indicated in the table)

STANDARD beam bulbs are designed for modern parabolic reflectors, and produce a controlled beam similar to the original incandescent bulb, only much brighter and whiter (or bright red) in flashlights, cycle lights, rechargeable tool lights, head torches, and Maglites®, etc.

UNIVERSAL beam bulbs are the most versatile. They reliably provide enhanced, smoother beams with non-standard reflectors such as oval (frequently fitted to cycle lights), extra wide, extra narrow angle or irregular shaped reflectors, in addition to typical compact modern reflectors. They also provide 180° hemispherical illumination for close-up work, cupboard lights, lantern domes, 3D viewers, etc, and can be used in a work light with a reflector to provide task lighting, as demonstrated in one of the photos above with a Bardic lantern shining on a vehicle wheel in snow.

UNIVERSAL beam bulbs give a light output distribution similar to original filament bulbs (but much brighter and whiter), and consistently produce improved illumination when retrofitted into the wide variety of designs including vintage lights which can have either: (a) an ultra-narrow beam width, or (b) large, wide angle reflectors.  UNIVERSAL beam bulbs work equally well in modern hand lamps and head torches, and they are recommended for all bicycle headlights, both modern and vintage.

C. RED NICELITE BULBS FOR RED AND CLEAR LENSES / COVERS

For bicycle tail lights, use a red LED bulb, The red light will pass through a red lens with little loss, unlike filament bulbs where all the light is stopped by the red filter except the red component.

Red bulbs are also suitable for maintaining night vision, for instance when navigating with charts or maps.

NB: White Nicelite bulbs are too bright for use behind many red lenses or red lantern domes, therefore a red Nicelite bulb should be selected for these applications.

D. ENSURING FULL BRIGHTNESS

Electrical contact between components, even in brand new lights, can present high resistance and impair the brightness or cause flickering. If you suspect that brightness is lower than it should be, metal polish or domestic cream cleaner can be used to clean accessible electrical contacts, such as between cells, the contact strips or springs, and the bulb holder contacts. Cleaned surfaces can be given a light coating of oil with a small brush or cotton swab to inhibit re-oxidation. Alternatively a professional electrical cleaner can be used. It is important not to use an abrasive which could remove any protective surface plating. Substances should be kept away from the delicate reflector. These comments apply to any type of light source, whether filament bulb or LED.

E. MORE INFORMATION AND REVIEWS

Please ask if you need any information. The main database for these bulbs is at: www.reflectalite.com/LEDpage.html

Bicycle dynamo-generators: We have a separate eBay item specially for LED dynamo bulbs, which are many times brighter than standard lights. Please see our "Other Items".

A Nicelite bulb is not only very bright and economical, it is versatile and can be moved from one light to another with a different number of batteries, as long as the total voltage (V) is within the stated range. Dry cells, NiCd, and NiMH should be considered as 1.5V per cell. Li-ion cells are usually 4.2V maximum.

Nicelite bulbs will run continuously in a plastic or metal bulb holder. NL152, NL161, NL164, NL167, and NL252 are intended only for use in the appropriate Maglite®.

In the unusual event of excess temperature, all bulbs have thermal protection which automatically reduces power until the temperature falls back to the safe level.

Please note that NL152, NL161, NL164, NL167, and NL252 fit only the Maglite®
models indicated in the table.

All LED bulbs in this eBay item are Nicelite brand, suppled on a blister card with product information and contact email address.

The higher voltage NL511 is suitable for cordless tool lamps made by various manufacturers including DeWALT, Bosch. Milwaukee, AEG, and Hitachi. Please note that older Metabo cordless lamps fitted with a dimmer are not compatible. Later Metabo lamps without a dimmer are fully compatible with Nicelite.

The Nicelite listed watts (W) is the actual power used, and is directly related to battery run time.  For highest efficiency the LEDs are operated well below their maximum power rating. For instance NL322 and NL343 have 3W LEDs, but actually run at 1W.  NL152 and NL252 are fitted with Cree's flagship 3W XP-G LEDs, running at 2W.
