Crafted from superfine Italian merino wool, it features a pixelated print in vivid shades of blue.  Fabulously unique, the print has been created from an urban landscape photograph that has been compressed to its simplest, pixelated form.

The Tokyo Blanket is an artful microcosm of the city itself.  Three bright tones create this unique pixel pattern which is bordered by all three colors.  The reverse of the blanket offers a more subdued, traditional knit which blends all three colored threads.  Part of the innovative Bitmap Collection, the Tokyo Blanket is knitted using a jacquard technique that can take up to five hours to complete, and is finished with a color-contrasting shell-stitch fringe.

Each design form the Bitmap Collection begins life as photograph of a real life subject, which is compressed into a digital bitmap, zoomed in and meticulously re-colorized.

The Bitmap blanket by Zuzunaga is just that, a bitmap of an urban landscape that has been zoomed in hundreds of times to expose the individual bits of the image. The combination of high tech modernism with traditional hand crafted modes of production create items that bring a sense of the personal to the increasingly digital society we live in. The bright vivid colors of each design are a playful, defiant challenge to the mundane grayness of modern society. The patterns are named for the city scape that has been pixelated. Each Bitmap blanket is knitted using a 3 color jacquard technique for the base and a final color for the fine edge stitching. They are made of 100 percent superfine Italian merino wool in Spain and are a generous 57.5 inches x 83.5 inches in size.
