Another recent rescue, this excellent Gillette gold fat handle Tech was found mismatched in the wrong case, which I am not offering in this listing. Characterized by rectangular slots in the blade tray and no date code, this combination is a clear indicator of one that was manufactured from 1946-1950, according to several sources.

The gold plating on most of these is somewhat thinner than their big brothers the Aristocrats, IMO, so polish these at your own risk...I've stripped the plating on far too many of them. Consequently, I've left this handsome gentleman in the condition I've found him in... except for my usual treatment of gently cleaning it with a nylon bristle brush, as well as sanitizing it in warm water and Dawn anti-bacterial dish soap, I've also taken the liberty of wiping him down in tried-and-true Tarn-X...so as not to damage the gold plating.

As seen by the photos, he's in what I would consider as Very Good condition, with what I would also describe as light plate loss and staining. What's seen on the surfaces looks to be a mixture of light wear, slight abrasion, and on the head cap, the coating of lacquer that was commonly used by Gillette on their gold plated razors has worn through to the gold plating beneath in many places...of note is what appears to be brassing on the outer edges of said head piece due to wear from usage.

The gold on the remainder of the razor seems full and relatively thick ( except for the head cap ), and wear from use over its 70 years does not appear to have broken through to the brass in any detectable location ( again, except for the head cap ). Finally, the threads on the head piece seem to be in good order, allowing the razor to be assembled and taken apart with relative ease.
