About the Bauhaus Movement
The Bauhaus was what many consider to be the most influential modernist art school of the 20th century. The German school, credited with cultivating the cultural and philosophical movement known as modernism, operated in three German cities from 1919 to 1933. Its output heavily influenced architecture and design in Europe and the United States. The movement was largely focused around reuniting creativity and manufacturing, a relationship Bauhaus designers felt had been lost in the years leading to and following World War I. The minimalist designs associated with modernism and the Bauhaus came from a desire to link practicality with commonplace objects, an ethos that is very much still alive in today’s popular design. The minimalism associated with the Bauhaus aesthetic can be seen throughout the lineage of German watchmaking. Because a large portion of today’s watch consumers desire this same design aesthetic, the Junkers Bauhaus series is an excellent way to get a thoughtfully crafted timepiece that exudes a genuinely timeless style.
About Junkers
Named after Hugo Junkers, the famous German engineer and aircraft designer, Junkers is a German-based watch brand that crafts modern dress and pilot style watches. Junkers’ design aesthetic is recognizable throughout its’ entire line, and many models, such as the popular Bauhaus, have become renowned in the watch community for quality of design, function, and reliability. The watches all boast clean, minimalistic looks that in some way reference aviation. The modern and tasteful aesthetic of Junkers watches have made them equally sought-after by both millennials looking for their first dress watch and by seasoned horologists looking for great value. These watches look, feel, and perform far more expensive than they actually are. All Junkers’ timepieces are constructed in Germany and use Swiss and Japanese parts, meaning they will last for generations without the inaccessible price tag of many similarly styled watches.
