History:
The subtle eastern fragrance of this Aleppo Soap will perfume your bathroom or, place it among your clothes, to scent your wardrobes.
The resin of agar wood, more commonly known as Oud, has no shortage of words to describe it.
Its name comes from the Arabic "al-oud" meaning "wood". Also called “wood of the gods”, this softwood originally comes from Saudi Arabia.
It is well reputed and highly appreciated in the world of perfume due to its aromatic qualities: Oud wood, in fact, produces a fragrant resin to protect itself from parasites (insects or fungi).
Removing the affected, and hence aromatic, parts of the wood allows the tree to survive.
This rare, centuries-old aromatic treasure has been traded for thousands of years due to its esteem in the Middle East and Japan.
It is used in numerous religious traditions and rituals from Japanese Buddhist temples to Moroccan mosques. In the Middle East, Oud is swathed in mysticism being used as incense over the ages, and also used by faith healers at healing ceremonies.
