This is an opium bowl of the late 19th century, rendered in black Yixing clay and formed into an octagonal shape.  The bowl has an incised "Greek Key" design around its midsection, and bears four inscriptions/makers marks around its base.

The needle hole shows a period repair in copper, but this has been broken through by use and time. The attached metal collar is likely original, and the level of patina and corrosion suggests this bowl was buried for a long period of time. Despite this, the surface of the bowl is still pleasingly smooth, intact, and free from cracks and chips.

Dimensions: 1.9 inches high, 2 inch diameter at widest points.
Weight: 1.8 ozs.
