4 Vintage Blue & White Makkum Holland Dutch Delft Folk Art Plaque “Men of Olde” Tiles
Vintage Koninklijke Tichelaar Makkum Blue & White Dutch Tiles, COUNTRY HOMES Hand Painted Tiles.
This is a vintage example from an antique collection. Makkum logo and crown on back with artist’s initials. It features four men working or resting. The four are; smoking a pipe, showing off his fowl, eating, selling eyeglasses. Nice classical look that’s great for the delft or faience collector or admirer.
Measure approx. 5” x 5”

History:
Koninklijke Tichelaar Makkum (Royal Tichelaar Makkum, est. 1572) is the oldest company in the Netherlands and has worldwide recognition in the field of ceramics.
The map in Caspar Robles’ 1572 atlas shows a ‘briccaria’ or brick factory on the site where the Koninklijke Tichelaar Makkum factory is now.
Economic and technological changes have never alienated Tichelaar from its traditional origins. The clay and glazes, a large proportion of which are still excavated locally, are still the two most important raw materials the company uses. The company’s expertise also includes production methods like hand-painting and the age-old, superior seventeenth-century faience technique – also called Delft earthenware. Tichelaar is now the only factory in Europe still to produce such earthenware. The same can be said of their vast knowledge of glaze manufacturing.

If you’d like to return your item, kindly notify us within five days of your receipt of the product.
Returned items must be received back in the same condition as described in the listing within 14 days of receipt. All tags must be attached.
Once an item is received back in its original condition, a refund will be given. It is the buyer’s responsibility to return an item with insurance. Refunds will not be given for damaged or broken merchandise.
Customers pay return shipping on items unless there was a mistake in the item’s description.

We do try to test our items to be sure everything is in working order. That being said, some electronics are hard to test. If you receive an item that has an issue other than those specified in the auction details, we will refund your money. PO Box
We have to know in advance of purchase if you would like to ship to a PO box. Most items can be shipped US Mail, but shipping may be additional to what’s listed above.
We ship same-day or next-day most of the time. In rare cases, we ship within two days. We cannot guarantee shipments on weekends.
