Rare 18th/19th Century Copper Tea Kettle With Unique Hinged Handle. Kettle is hand forged, with beautiful Dovetailed seems. Measures over 11" tall, 13 1/2" long, 9 3/4" wide. Top opening resting rim for lid measures 5 1/2" across. Kettle In overall good condition for its age and use. Opening rim for lid has started to separate, but still very much attached. Has small dings and dent threw out and few small tarnish spots. Handle and lid knob are both hand carved wood. Hinged metal handle sections are also all hand forged copper. This is a great piece for all kinds of antique collectors and a great example of hand made, every day items from the past. No Maker/ID Marks found, unsure of origin. Possible German or Early American. By the details/quality of copper, forging techniques and style of how it was made, would estimate age from early 18th century to early 19th century.
