'An Artist of the Floating World' is Kazuo Ishiguro's second novel and was shortlisted for the 1986 (Man) Booker Prize. It won the Whitbread Book of the Year Award. Ishiguro won the 1989 Booker Prize with 'The Remains of the Day', and he was shortlisted twice more for the Booker for 'When We were Orphans' and for 'Never Let Me Go'.
