Absolutely breathtaking....... A late georgian early Victorian Brooch. This brooch is crafted from 18K yellow gold and dates from the very early 1800's. It is crafted with the upmost of perfection and skill. The snake is crafted fully from yellow gold and grapes around the entire enameled center. The head of the snake is adorned with a Rose Cut Diamond of good quality no signs of carbon in the diamond although it is hard to tell as the diamond is set deep into the head and bezel set with tiny beads around the stone. The snake's body is smooth and its tail wraps around the mid body a couple of times. The head is hand etched to give the effect of a really snake. The eyes are gold balls and the mouth is slightly opened. On the back of the snakes head is a soldiered eye loop which suspends the petite locket. The locket possesses four natural rose cut diamonds with a rose cut diamond in the center. The back is a glass backing with a blue cloth with in. The locket does sway when worn from side to side. The sapphires on the locket do show signs age appropriate wear and light scuffs on the outside gold, so please zoom in closely. Now for the enamel work...... The enamel is a very deep royal blue which is in perfect condition with no chips or breakages. The enamel is adorned with a multi pin set Sterling silver floral arrangement. The flowers and foliage are set with many Rose cut and larger old cut diamonds all of which are in lovely condition.. Truly a remarkable piece for a very high end collection. We were unable to locate any hallmarks but tested all of the stones and all of the metals used as stated above.
