Tokai Goldstar Sound ST50 Black, maple board, 1984/5 Made In Japan

Tokai Goldstar Sound TST50 from 1984/85, all original, black with maple neck. Sold with non-original black hard case. This is what many people call a “lawsuit guitar”, even though I don't believe that there ever was an actual lawsuit between Tokai & Fender.

This is Tokai’s take on a 1950s Strat. It has a bit of a Clapton vibe about it, with the black body & signs of wear on the maple board. It seems to be all original & has the grey bottomed Tokai pickups that are still popular today. It has a few knocks & dings as you would expect from a guitar over 30 years old - see pics for details. It has some fret wear & will eventually need a fret dress, but it's fine for now, in my opinion. I have taken some pics of the frets so please assess this for yourself. It plays well & sounds great. It didn’t have a tremolo arm when I bought it but I’ll see if I can find a spare one in a drawer if the buyer wants it.

If you want any background information on these excellent vintage guitars, this article appeared in Guitar & Bass magazine in 2008.

You are welcome to come and see the guitar if you live locally (I’m in North London). Also, while I will post and accept PayPal, collection is fine. Payment in cash only please if you're collecting. Thanks

The shipping price is for mainland UK (insured). I will ship worldwide, but the cost of P&P outside the UK will depend on the buyer's location - please e.mail me for a shipping quote. The buyer may also be liable to pay customs charges on international shipments (outside of the EU).

If you wish to make me an offer, it’s best to send me a message before making the offer so I know who you are. eBay’s rather strange system hides that information from sellers. For example, if I know that you will be paying me cash on collection, I will be more inclined to consider an offer than if you intend to pay via Paypal, because of Paypal’s high fees.

Also, due to a bad experience in the past, please have at least 10 positive feedback scores before buying or making an offer.  Thanks.

Any questions, please send me a message.
