This auction is for a superb,much sought after original antique 1909 ships Morse code marine lantern,in excellent condition with only minimal wear and tear.This Solid/brass and copper Marine signal lamp is heavily constructed and stands 24"tall including handle.

Made by Telford Grier Mackay.220-222 Broomielaw Glasgow.

Has impressed makers mark with 1909 date at top and on back sliding plate, very likely took part of the war effort.

Also has patent plate on shutters,and two plates and lamp inner carcass.

And another plate on back.

Has been sympathetically converted to electric(large bayonet bulb)bulb holder and flex can easily be removed,(please use qualified electrician to check) if desired. Totally original apart from not having paraffin lamp.Shutters open and close fine with handle located on outside, does still have the original spring which would attach to the handle.

Solid glass lens is in excellent condition with no chips or cracks,odd air bubble during manufacturing process.Marked with what appears to be "T C M 1909"etched in glass.

Hinges and slidings all work fine.

Hanging "hook"is very secure, weighs just over 10 kilos unwrapped.

Superb decorators piece and a worthy addition to any collection.

Has minor marks,rubbing,scuffs commensurate with age and use.

Measures 11.25"across,with height of 20" and 24"when hanging hook is upright.
