"DUB-SYNTH"
NEW ORIGINAL TRIGGER SYNTHESIZER
DESIGNED AND BUILT BY HAND IN THE UK
After many years of circuit bending we at S-CAT have begun to develop new, original electronic instruments.
We are collaborating with renowned designer John W. Oram to produce a line of unique analogue devices.
The "Dub-Synth" is the first of this line! Current Dub-Synth users include The Prodigy's Liam Howlett.

Manufactured in the UK, with electronics hand-assembled by us at S-CAT, fitted in a carbon steel case, with solid oak side-cheeks.
It is perfect for use in any style of electronic music, but will particularly suit producers and performers of Dub and Dub Reggae.
It can create amazing classic dub-siren, police and lick shot sounds, but does not stop there!
This is a completely new analogue synth, designed from scratch. As such, you can expect some crazy quirks.
A massive repertoire of sound effects, bass-lines and percussion sounds can be achieved.
Manual or external triggering capability means the "Dub-Synth" can fit into many studio or live situations, and would work well with
modular synths and vintage Roland equipment.

This video shows two Dub-Synths being triggered from a Roland TR-606 drum machine, we have then overdubbed the soundtrack
by manually triggering the device by hand using the big red button, along with a drum pad that fires the unit via the external trigger input jack.
S p e c i f i c a t i o n s
1. Trigger
Use the big red illuminated momentary button or hit the lock-down toggle to maintain the sound.
Whatever method is used to trigger the sound, the red button will illuminate for the same duration as the sound and fade in or out.
Please note there is also an external trigger input!
2. Oscillator Pitch
Set or sweep the pitch using this dial. Range is around 6 octaves,
so both very high and extremely low, sub-sonic frequencies are accessible.
3. Attack
Set slow or fast attack on the oscillator manual trigger button using this toggle switch.
4. Osc. Decay/Release
Set the length of decay/release, from a short blip suitable for clave-type sounds, to a long decay of around 30 seconds.
5. Osc. Pitch Sweep
Otherwise known as envelope release. Increase the sweep amount and, when a sound is triggered, it will "sweep" down in pitch.
6. Osc. Waveform
The "Dub-Synth" has a wealth of complex waveforms that can be accessed via this dial.
At the left, a sine with a slight edge. At the right, a sine/saw hybrid waveform.
7. LFO Mode / LFO Rate
Switch between slow and fast LFO modes using the toggle switch. The dial controls rate. An LED indicates speed.
This unit has one of the fastest LFO rates that we've heard!
8. LFO Waveform
Choose square or triangle LFO waveform.
9. LFO depth
At minimum, the LFO is flat. Increase depth using this dial.
10. Square LFO Depth
This dial allows you to increase the depth, or amplitude, of the squarewave LFO only.
Some great effects are possible at high rates!
11. Oscillator Volume and Mute
Controls the volume of the oscillator. The output level is fairly powerful from this machine.
The momentary mute button is a useful addition and gives greater flexibility in performance.
12. Mix Volume and Mute
Controls the volume of the mix input. Very useful if an external mixer is not available.
