This sweet, chubby Japanese wood sosaku creative kokeshi doll is from the 1970's and measures 6.75" high and 10" in circumference around the middle.   She was designed by most respected and highly honored kokeshi doll designer - Kazuo Takamizawa - who has won so very many top awards in Japan for his beautiful kokeshi creations, including one for this doll.  Her name is "Haru No Hana" which roughly translates to "Spring Flowers".

The kokeshi doll is wearing a beautiful green kimono that's decorated with several plum blossom flowers with pink centers.  The flowers were first carved into the wood for added depth, and then painted.  There are areas on the kimono where the artist burned a lovely diamond-shape pattern with dots.  She's also wearing a yellow obi that matches the underclothing near her neck.  Her face is quite beautiful with pink cheeks and tiny heart-shaped lips, framed by her hair pulled up into a large top knot.  The artist's red stamp/chop is on the bottom.  Please see below for flaws.

This kokeshi doll is in good vintage condition - hard to find many flaws - and she would make a great addition to your growing collection.  White areas are camera glare.   Please remember that this is a vintage doll that may have minor imperfections, such as dust/dirt/dings/scratches/scuffs/age spots.  And please note the size of the doll as the pictures may make it look larger than it actually is.
