CREATURE FEATURES, your one-stop shop for monstrous movie & TV memorabilia, goes back in time to when dinosaurs ruled the earth with this DVD premiere of SILENT ROAR: THE DINOSAUR FILMS OF HERBERT M. DAWLEY, courtesy of the Dinosaur Museum!

An innovator of stop-motion model animation, Major Herbert M. Dawley's landmark films THE GHOST OF SLUMBER MOUNTAIN (1918) and ALONG THE MOONBEAM TRAIL (1921) paved the way for giants in the field such as Willis O'Brien (KING KONG) and Ray Harryhausen (THE 7th VOYAGE OF SINBAD).

Now, after a decade of research, this specially produced DVD features the most complete, meticulously restored versions of THE GHOST OF SLUMBER MOUNTAIN and ALONG THE MOONBEAM TRAIL, accompanied by new music scores, commentaries, and re-created intertitles.

Featuring:

  • The Ghost of Slumber Mountain (1918)
  • Along the Moonbeam Trail (1921)
  • 12 "silhouette" animation shorts by Dawley and Tony Sarg, including the only known print of Thumbelina
  • Dawley's slide show on the Battle of Gettysburg
  • Rare audio recording of Dawley's speech to the Pierce-Arrow Society in 1968
