An Antique DUTCH INTERIOR Fine Large REALISM Masterpiece SIGNED OIL PAINTING
Large painting measuring 31 1/2" x 25" without the frame; with frame measures 39" x 30 3/4". Medium is oil on canvas done in a fabulous Realism style; depicts a dutch interior scene of a mother, father and daughter gathered around the table; an array of objects can be seen in the background; extremely well done.
Signed in the bottom left hand corner by the artist; large, smooth flowing signature signifying the artist had signed many times on this medium; quite positive that this piece is done by a well known artist from the first half of the 20th century; was told this was done by a listed artist with quite some notoriety but am having trouble identifying the signature; perhaps Peter Josef Strahn? Regardless a stunning large masterpiece worthy of further research and display!
In Very Good overall condition with light wear; exhibits moderate cracking which is typical of a painting with this much age; c1940s; canvas affixed with staples rather than nails; light wear; no holes, rips, tears; bright and vibrant; backside of canvas exhibits some light rippling and remnants of dried paint in areas; some minor light blemishes in spots; bright and vibrant; rich and appealing!
Comes housed in an eye catching double hardwood frame; frame is ornately carved with exquisite detail and silver and gold painted finish; exhibits light wear but presents very handsomely; complete with picture wire this masterpiece is ready to hang!
Measures 31 1/2" x 25" and 39" x 30 3/4" with the frame!
Overall, a fabulous example of a mid 20th Century Dutch Interior painting done in a fabulous Realism style by an artist with quite some talent; most definitely worthy of further research!
