This is a stunning natural Amethyst geode from our new Brazilian shipment, the geode is natural and not heat treated like some and measures 220 mm x 170 mm. This is a top grade amethyst, one of six i am listing today.

 A fact sheet explaining how geodes are formed and how to care for them will be given with each geode.

 Geodes are chiselled out of solid basalt rock by hand in Brazil, so they may have flaws, lines and sometimes nicks from the edges. The geodes are formed when the planet forces a mis-shaped bubble into the basalt and depending upon the composition of the minerals surrounding this, they form different shapes and colours. Amethyst is deeper purple when there is more iron oxide present. After they have been mined they are then graded, cut, levelled and the edges are polished ready for shipping.
