Stinging Nettle For Shrimp

Stinging Nettle is a great food supplement for ornamental shrimp, with a large range of dietary nutritional elements and mineral content. Many shrimp breeders are using Nettle over Spinach, as the calcium content is greater. 98% of shrimp will love this food and devour it entirely in a few hours; I have tested it on Red Cherry, Blue Dream and Taiwan Bee shrimp, which love it (see pictures).

Stinging Nettle can be used in addition to your existing feeding regime

I have grown this Nettle in the UK organically, using no nutrient o pesticides so you can be sure there will no harmful chemical entering your tank.

This is a small package of around 10-12 leaves, which will give you the chance to test the leaves with your particular shrimp, then you can make an informed decision to buy more, grow your own or go foraging.

Preparation

I blanch these leaves in a cup to help soften them and remove some of the chlorophyll they contain due to their green colour.

I place the leaves in a cup and pour boiling water on them after 2-3 mins, I will empty the water and replace with more from the kettle, after a further 5 min, I empty the water and let the leaves cool.

They are now ready to use!

FEED IN SMALL AMOUNTS THAT CAN BE CONSUMED IN 3 HOURS. WITH GREEN LEAVES COMPARED TO BROWN SUCH AS KATTAPA, IT IS EXTREMELY IMPORTANT TO REMOVE ANY UNEATEN LEAVES. DO NOT LET UNWANTED FOOD ROT IN YOUR TANK. TO DATE I PLACE A SMALL LEAVE IN EACH OF MY TANKS. I CHECK 3 HOUR LATER AND THERE HAS NEVER BEEN ANY LEFT!

Shrimp in the pictures are not included in the sale!
