Spoke nipples in quantise from 8 to 100 nipples from Sapim and Halo

We are selling black brass and alloy nipples in varying sizes. Chose between brass and alloy depending on your needs from your wheel. Speed and hill climbing obsession suit alloy nipples due to their lower rotating mass. However they are not recommended on low spoke wheels due to their inherently soft nature. Brass nipples are easier to build with and stronger. [Please note that silver and coloured nipples are sold in separate listings.]

Weights: On our certificated scales we measured the DT nipples in their boxes and recorded 100 alloy nipples as 50 grams and 100 brass nipples as 140 grams.  We found no measurable weight difference between the different brands so we could not tell you if one brand is lighter than another. Nipples are sold as branded except in the 12mm brass packs of 50. These could be either Halo or Sapim, we cannot tell the difference so reach for the nearest.

As with spokes, there is a nipple to suit to every wheel requirement. To decide which nipple is best, you must weigh up the available information: Sapim makes nipples in nickel plated brass and in aluminum. All nipples are forged. Arguments in favour of a brass nipple are price and rigidity. The strength/weight ratio is the principal argument for a 7075 alloy nipple. It is superior to all other makes. If a coloured anodized alloy nipple is selected it will guard against corrosion as well as look special.
